Receipt will be given immediately on credit of the amount contributed to the Fund Account which is entitled for 100% Tax Relief under Income Tax Act 1961.

GENERAL DETAILS ON CHIEF MINISTER'S PUBLIC RELIEF FUND

 

The Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund plays a vital role in organising relief measures to the distressed. Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu sanctions financial assistance from the fund for a variety of reasons such as poor students seeking aid for pursuing their education, those affected due to Natural Calamities, Communal Clashes, Road Accidents, Explosive Accidents, attacks by wild animals, costly surgeries, physically handicapped and those without means of livelihood, grants to institution serving public causes etc. For the past 2 years from 1-4-2001 to 31-3-2003 financial assistance to 8362 number of beneficiaries have been sanctioned for the above causes.

 

FUNDS:


The contribution from the altruistically inclined and humanitarian minded people form the principal amount of the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. The donation / contribution made to this fund are entitled for 100% exemption from Income Tax under section 80(G)(2)(a) (iiihf). Appeals inviting contribution to the fund are made by Hon'ble Chief Minister and based on which contributions are received. Proper accounts are maintained for the receipts and expenditure of the fund and it is audited every year by the Chief Internal Auditor and Chief Auditor of Statutory Boards.

 

SANCTION PROCEDURE:


Requests for sanction of financial assistance from Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund are examined by the concerned Administrative Departments of Secretariat in consultation with the collectors of Districts  and Finance Department  and orders are issued sanctioning the assistance. Thereafter based on the sanction orders, cheques are issued to the beneficiaries through the Collectors / Heads of Departments concerned and for which vouchers are obtained from the beneficiaries. In the case of Life Saving Surgeries, Collectors have been allowed Corpus Fund form the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund and the Collectors disburses the assistance based on the sanction order issued by the  Administrative Department of Secretariat and get it reimbursed  and this enables disbursement of the assistance quickly. From 1-8-2002, the financial assistance for Life Saving Surgeries are being sanctioned from Tamil Nadu State Illness Fund which is maintained by the Director of Medical  and Rural Health Services.
