South Zone schools sports festival
St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai organized South Zone inter-school sports festival for three days from July 12, above 5000 competitors, drawn from about 150 schools from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala. More than 130 schools from Tamil Nadu only will be part of the five-discipline event. The events for both boys and girls are basketball, ball badminton, kabaddi and volleyball. The football event would see as several as 60 schools participating.
Competition in basketball and volleyball are probable to be the highlight appreciation to the participation of Mount Carmel School (Kottayam), St. Joseph’s and SDNT (Thrissur).
The track and field championships will be detained separately on July 19 and 20 because a greater part of the athletes are to be part of the State junior meet to be detained at Thiruvarur next weekend.
The winner of every discipline will obtain Rs. 6000, the runner-up Rs. 4000 and the third and fourth-placed teams getting home Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2000. For athletics, the first prize cash will be Rs. 500 with Rs. 300 and 200 for the second and third places.
