The large number of Chennai peoples crowd to mark in beaches and entertainment places for the harvest festival season of kaanum Pongal. More than 7000 policemen supported by Home Guards stood watch across the city to make sure the day passed off serenely. Beaches, Children’s Park, amusement parks and Vandalur Zoo near the city have a lot of crowds early on Thursday morning itself. During the other places of VGP, MGM Dizzee World, Queensland, Kishkinta, Muttukaadu, Mahabalipuram, Trade Fair at Island Grounds, Children’s Park, Chennai Book Fair, and the main spots like Kamarajar Memorial and Gandhi Mandapam has also the lot of people thronged. Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur where approximately 1,00,000 people are probably to turn up so that the safety arrangements have been made up here.
