Amar b (born 4 January 1984), better known by his stage name jiiva who is an International award- winning Tamil film actor.. He has worked in a number of critically and commercially successful films and has established himself as one of the leading young actors. Jiiva wears a valiant glitter in his eyes and never thinks twice of taking risks in the roles he plays. Son of producer R.B Choudhary, Started his career as a child actor in his father’s film perumpuli, cheran pandian . Jiiva began his professional career seven years earlier with the film asai asaiyai. He had his first highly commended success with director Ameer Sultan film Raam (2005), for which he won the Best Actor award at the Cyprus International Film Festival. (The only other Tamil actor who received an International award was Sivaji Ganesan in 1960, for the film Veerapandiya Kattabomman). Another film katradu Tamil (2007) with highly positive reviews which also met with critical acclaim upon its release was registered as the "performance of his lifetime" in his establishing acting career. Jiiva received his kalaimamani award given by the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram for excellence in the field of art and literature. The chief minister of Tamil Nadu felicitated him with this award. His journey of commercial success began from the film “E”(2006) the major grosser, which was followed by thenavetu(2008) and siva manasula shakthi(2008).
Jiiva was born to producer R.B.choudhary and his wife mahjabeen on 4 January 1984. He is the youngest of four sons. The eldest brother B. Suresh, co-producer in the home banner SUPER GOOD FILMS, second comes Jeevan, a well established entrepreneur in the steel industry, and Ramesh,(jithaan ramesh) a blooming actor in the Tamil film fraternity. Jiiva is born and brought up in Chennai. From a truly secular family background where dad arrives from the northern part of India and mom natives southern part of India, jiiva feels proud to be known as south Indian. Jiiva married his child hood sweetheart Supriya on 21 November 2007 in New Delhi.
He started his career as a child actor in two of his father's productions. His debut film as a lead was Aasai Aasaiyai. The movies Thittikudhey and Raam followed, the latter being a major financial success. It was screened at Indian Panorama and later at the Cyprus International Film Festival, where it won two awards - the Best Actor award for jiiva and the Best Musical Score Award for its music director, Yuvan Shankar Raja. Later on jiiva appeared in other hit films such as Aran where he acted alongside Mohanlal as an Indian army soldier. He also made his debut in Malayalam cinema with Keerthi Chakra, the original version of Aran. jiiva's film E was also a critically acclaimed featured film. His latest releases are Thenavettu and Siva Manasula Sakthi. The former is an action entertainer while the latter is a breezy romantic film. Siva Manasula Sakthi is probably Jiiva's biggest hit after Dishyum thenavetu. He is also filming for Kacheri & singam pulii |
