Indian Junior Open squash Begins
Tamilnadu News: The Third Indian Junior Open Squash Championship, commencing at the Indian Squash Academy here Tuesday, has attracted 295 players from seven countries. The five-day tournament offers a purse of USD 10,000 and the field includes players from Hong Kong (17), Malaysia (4), Sri Lanka (16), Jordan (4), Nepal (4) and the US (1) besides hosts India.
This Sports Tournament is an Asian Squash Federation (ASF) Junior Super Series Silver event and part of the World Squash Federation (WSF) junior circuit organized by the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) and the Tamil Nadu Squash Rackets Association. Participants (Under-19 category only) of this event will receive WSF points and ASF ranking points (all categories). There will be 10 age categories – Boys and Girls under 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19. India’s Anaka Alankamony, the current Asian junior champion, and Mahesh Mangaonkar, who finished sixth in the recent World junior championship, have been given top billing in the girls and boys under-19 categories, respectively.
Prominent foreigners include Boys Under-17 Asian Junior champion Ahmad Alsaraj from Jordan along with his brother Mohd Alsaraj who was the runner up at the Asian Junior championship and is the top seed in the boys U-13 section.
Hong Kong players Chan Ho Ching (Girls U-15), Ho Tze Lok (Girls U-17), Ho Ka Po (Girls U-19) and Yuen Tsun Hei (Boys U-15) are all title contenders.
Viswanathan Anand Secure World Title in Chennai
Tamilnadu News: Chennai will host the World Chess Championship title match between defending Champion Viswanathan Anand and Boris Gelfand of Israel in April-May next year. Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha has assured Tamil Nadu government’s support for the high-profile match.
According to an official statement here Today (Wednesday), World Chess Federation president Kirsan Illyumzhinov met the chief minister. The nature or extent of government support for the best-of-12 match series with a projected expenditure of Rs 20 crores could not be ascertained.
Anand had won the Title in 2010 defeating Vaselin Topalov 6.5-5.5 in Bulgaria and will be defending the crown against the 43-year old Gelfand, who qualified by winning the Candidates Tournament.
Chennai Rhinos Won CCL Title
Tamilnadu News: One of the Good Fortunes year of Chennai 2011, By Getting the IPL Championship title by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team lead by M.S.Dhoni got second time IPL Championship Cup. Soon after the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) first edition was started first time and Chennai Rhinos stood out as the winners of first CCL tourney. Chennai team led by Actor Surya has been outstanding throughout the tournament and they have finally nailed down a strong team like Karnataka Bulldozers in the final.
In the CCL final cricket match on June 12, Chennai Rhinos batted first and posted a total of 188/7 in 20 over’s. Karnataka Bulldozers fell short of the target by 23 runs and were bundled out for 165. Chennai like their IPL team has been strong and grounded all the time. Their crowd has given them immense support all the way. Bharathi Cements and Radaan media works head Radhika Sarathkumar was one of the partners of the Chennai Rhinos
In the face of a few glitches here and there, first CCL Cricket tournament is a very good hit and we can hope it will get better by the next edition. It would be nice if these teams play exhibition matches in between too. For the next year CCL Six teams are playing, the new Teams are Bengal Film Stars who was the team Owner of the Famous Film Actress Sridevi. And the Another Team is Kerala Film Stars.
Gayle wicket is the turning point for CSK
Chennai Super Kings Spin bowler, R. Ashwin, feels that it was the wicket of Gayle in the very first over in the final encounter of the Indian Premiere League season 4 between his team and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday night that acted as the turning point of the day. It was for the most of the people of Chennai and the team as well. The only man who could have spoilt the party after 200 runs was posted could have been Chris Gayle, the right arm spinner said in an interview to a national channel.

Chennai Cricket fans rejoice India won
Huge celebrations between Chennai cricket fans, enjoys the India won World cup champions 2011 against Srilanka on Saturday. He said Indian team Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni richly deserves full praise and appreciation of the entire nation. On Saturday night, just as Dhoni dispatched the ball over the boundary line, it was like a Diwali here with the night sky lit with fireworks.

Andrew Strauss confident against West Indies
England captain Andrew Strauss said ahead of the his team’s do or die battle against West Indies here today, to stay afloat in the World Cup cricket championship. We have been playing well in big games, he said, answering questions at the pre match press conference the England captain also refuted reports in a section of his press that he would hang up his boots after the world cup.
Strauss confirmed that he and key spinner Graeme Swann had recovered fully for today’s key match at the M. A. Chidambaram stadium. But expressed doubts about Azhmal Shehzad.
